PROJECTS AND EVENTS

We're a new organization. So for 2021 we're starting with familiar efforts, like running our original programing, the 787 Racing Mentor Program at Holland Racing's Driveway Series. But stay tuned for future events hosted and promoted by The LeadOut Foundation and other partnerships between The LeadOut Foundation and other rides, races, and cycling events.

upcoming EVENTS

It is only fitting that the Driveway Series was The LeadOut Foundation’s first official event.

Though different from past years because of the pandemic, 2021 saw the return of the Driveway Series. And thanks to our partnership with the Driveway and the incredible generosity of 787 Racing and our other 787 Racing Mentor Program sponsors, The LeadOut Foundation's original programming, the Mentor Program, returns. Mentors are in the race and available pre- and post-race to help new and emerging racers with all the things many of us had to learn as we went.

plus PRACTICE RACES with

AUSTIN'S WOMEN'S RACING COMMUNITY

Austin's local women's teams were out in force to help teach, mentor, and cheer along at this clinic and celebrate of women on bikes. Along with our chief clinic partner Team Wolfpack we hosted the clinic as well as a practice race for novice riders. WahooFitness provided a killer door prize and we had added podium prizes from Archangel Sports and more. Jessica Alexander captured the magic on film and ATX Sierns kept things cool providing free sno cones for every woman who attended the clinic and/or raced making for a fun and summer-appropriate clinic night!

with

Our first beneficiary! Black History Bike Ride started as one individual's hope to have a few folks join him on a 9 mile ride around Austin to points of relevant Afircan American History. What happened was a rush of community interest and support for Talib's idea. We were the proud title sponsor of the Juneteenth Ride in 2021 and joined in on the informative and enjoyable ride learning the rich history of Black Austin and the stories that continue through to today.

SKILLS & DRILLS CLINIC

plus PRACTICE RACES with

Our June 3 clinic was in the rain! So in addition to pack skills, everyone got to work on cornering in the wet. Despite the soaking there were no damp spirits as 20+ riders lined up for the clinic and our first ever practice race. Run separate from the Driveway Series races, the practice race was on a closed off portion of the Driveway track. It was a wet and wild one, with smiles all around. Racers sprinted for $20 gift cards from Trek of Austin. And post race everyone got a Bontrager blinky taillight to keep things safe on future cloudy day rides.

WOMEN ONLY CRIT CLINIC

with

58028_472859087769_2710302_n_edited.png

Our first clinic was a hit! Over 40 women spent an hour on skills and drills presented by member's of Austin's Super Squadra cycling team. Topics covered included cornering and bike handling. After the clinic, many attendees lined up for the Driveway Series Women's Open Race. And the result was the largest women's field in the Driveway's 12 year history. The clinic wouldn't have been the hit it was without help from ATX Sirens, Team Wolfpack, Archangel Sports, and members of Austin's Women's Racing Community.
